Extra-Curricular Activities at Al-Hidayah Campus: Nurturing Talent with an Islamic Ethos
At Al-Hidayah Campus, education extends beyond textbooks and classrooms. The school firmly believes in the holistic development of students, incorporating extra-curricular activities that foster intellectual growth, creativity, confidence, and physical fitness—all while aligning with Islamic principles.
Islam encourages excellence in all aspects of life, as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“Indeed, Allah loves that when anyone of you does a job, he should perfect it.” (Sunan al-Bayhaqi 4935)
To cultivate well-rounded individuals who excel in both Dunya (worldly life) and Akhirah (Hereafter), Al-Hidayah Campus organizes various competitions and events. These activities serve as platforms for students to enhance their skills, showcase their talents, and learn valuable life lessons.
Extra-Curricular Activities & Their Islamic Significance
- Handwriting Competition (Khatt-e-Jameel Award)
Celebrating the Beauty of Writing
Islam places great importance on the written word, as evident from the first revelation:
“Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who taught by the pen.” (Surah Al-Alaq 96:3-4)
This competition encourages students to develop neat, artistic, and legible handwriting, enhancing their presentation skills and patience—both of which are essential in academic and professional life.
- SpellBee Competition (Lughawi Faseeh Award)
Mastering Language and Precision
The Arabic language is the language of the Quran, and proficiency in language is a key tool in acquiring knowledge. The SpellBee competition strengthens students’ spelling, vocabulary, and pronunciation, reflecting the Islamic principle of “Itqan” (perfection in work).
- GK Quiz Competition (Al-Ilm Award)
Expanding Knowledge, Embracing Wisdom
Islam encourages the pursuit of both religious and worldly knowledge, as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 224)
The General Knowledge Quiz Competition sharpens students’ minds, broadens their awareness of Islamic history, science, current affairs, and global issues, and nurtures critical thinking and curiosity.

- Elocution Competition (Balagha Award)
The Power of Words in Islam
Public speaking is an essential skill for Dawah (Islamic propagation), leadership, and advocacy. This competition helps students:
- Gain confidence in speaking before an audience.
- Master articulation, clarity, and persuasive speech.
- Develop skills in presenting Islamic and contemporary topics effectively.
The Quran itself highlights the importance of eloquence:
“And We did not send any messenger except in the language of his people so that he might make the message clear to them.” (Surah Ibrahim 14:4)
- Abu Saad Sir Memorial Football Trophy
A Tribute to Passion, Teamwork & Sportsmanship
The Abu Saad Sir Memorial Football Trophy is a highly anticipated sporting event at Al-Hidayah Campus, held in honor of Abu Saad Sir, a beloved mentor known for his dedication to students and his passion for sports and character building.
The Islamic Perspective on Sports
Physical activity is encouraged in Islam as it promotes health, discipline, and teamwork. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself engaged in physical activities like running, wrestling, and archery. He said:
“A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer, though both are good.” (Sahih Muslim 2664)
The football tournament:
- Promotes teamwork, strategy, and discipline.
- Encourages students to maintain physical fitness.
- Instills sportsmanship, patience, and humility—essential Islamic values.
- Teaches the importance of unity and cooperation, as Allah (SWT) says:
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.” (Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:103)
The tournament serves as a reminder that true victory is not just in scoring goals but in demonstrating fairness, respect, and self-improvement.
Conclusion: Nurturing Future Leaders with Islamic Values
Through these extra-curricular activities, Al-Hidayah Campus enriches students’ intellectual, social, and physical abilities while staying rooted in Islamic ethics. These competitions not only sharpen skills and build confidence but also help students internalize the values of sincerity, dedication, and excellence.
As the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.” (Musnad Ahmad 23408)
May Allah (SWT) grant our students the ability to excel in both education and character, making them true ambassadors of knowledge, wisdom, and faith.
